A 4x6 photo (landscape) is 152.4 x 101.6 mm. The sheet is 8x10 paper, 203.2 x 254 mm, entered as a Custom size in FitPrint. What the status line says

With 2 4x6 photos (landscape) in the list, FitPrint's status line reads exactly "2 items · 1 custom sheet". Add one more and it reads "3 items · 2 custom sheets": the extra item starts a new sheet rather than shrinking anything.

How to lay this out in FitPrint

  1. Drag your files in. Open FitPrint and drag your 4x6 photo (landscape) files onto the window. Each file appears in the list with its size in the caption.
  2. Choose the 8x10 paper sheet. 8x10 paper has no preset, so pick Custom size and enter 203.2 x 254 mm as the sheet size.
  3. Keep scaling on Original size. Original size places every item at 100 percent, so a printed item measures exactly what the file says it measures.
  4. Leave packing on Fit most. Fit most packs as many items per sheet as fit. With the default 5 mm gap and 5 mm side margin that is 2 4x6 photos (landscape) per 8x10 paper sheet.

  6. Export and print at actual size. Click Export PDF, then set Scale to 100 percent and Pages per Sheet to 1 in the print dialog so nothing re-scales the exported file.
